MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick Review

MAC have teamed up with Nicki Minaj again to give birth to the MAC Viva Glam Nicki lipstick. When I first heard about this lipstick I was super excited, I just couldn't wait for it to be released for sale, so I ended up pre-ordering this lipstick, just in case it would sell out as quickly as the Pink Friday lipstick did. The thing that I love the most about this lipstick is that all the money made from this lipstick goes to charity, not 10% not 50% but 100%, so not only are you getting a gorgeous lipstick but you're also donating to charity at the same time.

Mac Viva Glam Nicki lipstick is a bright pink lipstick with yellow undertones, so if you dislike blue-toned pink lipsticks like me, you might want to give this lipstick a try. MAC Viva Glam Nicki has a satin finish which means it is semi matte, because of this it can feel a bit drying on the lips but if you wear a lip balm underneath you should be absolutely fine. This lipstick has a good amount shine to it, as you can see in the picture above, so I don't even need to wear lip-gloss over it. I usually wear lip-liner with this lipstick as it is a really bright neon pink but depending on how brave you are and/or what undertones you have, you could definitely pull this lipstick of by itself.

MAC Viva Glam Nicki vs MAC Pink Nouveau

The MAC Viva Glam Nicki is a yellow based pink lipstick whereas MAC Pink Nouveau is a blue based lipstick, both lipstick have a satin finish which means they are semi-mate lipsticks. I personally feel that non-blue based lipsticks suit my warm undertones better, that's why I do prefer the Viva Glam Nicki over the the Pink Nouveau, however Viva Glam Nicki is a super bright neon pink so I do tend to wear this with a lip-liner that will tone it down.

The Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick goes well with Nicki Minaj's nail polish line with OPI, click here to check out my review of the gorgeous nail polishes.

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara Review

I love mascara and its one of the most important things for me when it comes to make up. I love to enhance my eyes as much as I can, as I think its one of my best features. Out of all my make up items I own I am least faithful to mascara, I am always on the hunt for the best mascara that can help my thin, short and sparse eyelashes out. I have to admit I didn't even need a new mascara but I was wondering around my local drug store and came across Maybelline The Falsies mascara, I had to buy the mascara just because of the name, as I believed  it would give me the fake eyelash effect without ever having to apply false lashes.

They say
The Falsies Mascara delivers a false lash look; giving you a full set of voluminous, bold, fanned out lashes and the appearance of no gaps from any angle. The Pro-Keratin and Fibre enriched formula is designed to deliver immediate results, distributing volume and visible intensity to your lashes. The patented ‘Spoon’ shaped brush helps fan lashes out.The Falsies Mascara is designed to give the appearance of no gaps and spaces. In a wink lashes you didn't even know you had look visibly thickened!

Ana says
I have to say I have a hate/love relationship with this mascara. At first I hated it because when I applied the mascara to my eyelashes I got clumpy and messy lashes, but after several uses I got better at applying the brush. If you have bought this mascara and have the same problem I experienced, I suggest you swipe of the excess product of the brush and apply the mascara as quickly as you can because the mascara dries very fast.

Eyelashes without mascara

Eyelashes with two coats of mascara

This mascara really does thicken your eyelashes as you can see from the pictures above and it only takes two layers of mascara. The Maybelline Falsies also lengthens a little bit but it doesn't make you look like you have false lashes on. one thing I don't like about this mascara is that it is almost near impossible to apply it to my bottom lashes as just one layer looks ridiculously clumpy on my lashes, this means I have to use a different mascara on my bottom lashes. If you have any suggestions on how to use this mascara on the bottom lashes then feel free to let me know.

Overall
The Maybelline falsies mascara is really great if you want volume, it lengthens well and you can achieve a good look with just two coats. If you hate fast drying mascaras and like to take your time during application then this may not be for you because when it dries it is very difficult to comb through, however if you need a mascara that can hold a curl then this fast drying mascara is definitively for you. Oh I almost forgot to mention I got this mascara in the color black drama, I love that the color is super black, as I find a lot of mascaras that are suppose to be black are more of a gray black but not this one.

John Frieda Straight Ahead Shampoo And Conditioner Review

I love to straighten my hair especially for special occasions, but the amount of effort that goes into transforming my unruly frizzy curly hair is quite frustrating. It usually takes me a good 4 hours to straighten my hair ,Yes 4 hours, I kid you not. I have a lot of hair which is really thick and for me to get the desired straightness I dream of, means investing 4 hours of my time. Clearly this amount of time is ridiculous, so I went on a look out for straightening shampoos and conditioners and I found the John Frieda Straight Ahead collection in my local drug store, it looked really interesting and promising, so I had to get it and see if it would save me some time and frustration.

 They Say:
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight Ahead Daily Shampoo is perfect for all types of dry, frizz prone hair, it has unique straight-defining complex and it penetrates the hair whilst taming frizz for instantly salon-straight styling, It leaves the hair straight, shiny and smooth. This shampoo is gentle for everyday use and safe for color treated hair.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight Ahead Conditioner aligns the hair for instantly easier salon straight styling, whilst nourishing, hydrating and softening the hair. Hair is left more shiny and silky. The conditioner acts as a humidity resistant barrier that helps the hair to remain smooth and straight from root to tip in any weather.

Ana Says:
This should be a curly/wavy/frizzy girls best friend, for when you want to straighten your hair. The shampoo and conditioner definitively stretched out my curls and made it look more uniformed which was a very nice surprise for me. My hair felt so soft and moisturised and actually stayed straighter for longer, the results I got using this along with my ceramic straightener was amazing. I saved about an hour of my straightening routine with the straight ahead line, yipeeee.

Overall:
If you regularly straighten your hair you might want to give this a try as it really does make my hair easier to manage and at the same time doesn't way my hair down at all . Another great thing I found about the straight ahead line is that even if I don't straighten my hair afterwards it still gives a nice boost to my curls.

The John Frieda Straight Ahead Shampoo and Conditioner 250ml each retails for £5.59, you can also get these in  travel sizes of 50ml for £1.99.

MAC Pink Nouveau Lipstick Review

MAC Pink Nouveau lipstick is a bright bubble gum pink lipstick, if your looking for a barbie lipstick this is for you. Pink Nouveau is a really pretty color but when I first tried it on, I have to say I hated it. I had never worn lipstick before let alone bright lipstick, so when I got Pink Nouveau it was a big shock and I thought I looked like a big lipped clown. Why I decided to buy the brightest neon lipstick out there for my first lipstick is beyond me, I would advice lipstick virgins to get a color more closer to your natural lips and then move on to brighter colors. Personally I wouldn't wear Pink Nouveau by itself but I would wear it with a lip-liner that tones it down so it looks more flattering on my pigmented lips and dark skin.

My lips without lipstick
Alternative lighting for the picture at the top

As I find the Pink Nouveau lipstick a bit milky on my complexion, I normally wear it with a fuchsia lip pencil, see picture below. Don't you think this lip color would go so perfectly with the Nicki Minaj Pink Friday OPI nail polish that I mentioned in a previous post, click here to check it out.
Overall I think the color is really gorgeous but I personally feel the color would be more suited to those with lighter complexions. This lipstick is quite drying so I would advice wearing a lip balm before applying Pink Nouveau.

Mac Pink Nouveau retails for £13.50

15 Amazing Things You Can Do With Olive Oil

Photos from freedigitalphotos.net

First What Is Olive Oil And Why Is It So Great?

Olive Oil is oil from an Olive, OK so that was pretty self explanatory lol. Now Olive oil is great because it is full of nutrients and minerals, Olive oil has anti-oxidant properties and is said to be good for the heart as it can prevent heart disease. Olive Oil is rich in Vitamin E and K and has Omega 3 and 6,these vitamins and minerals are said to be good for the body, hair and nails. Another Great thing about Olive Oil is that it is affordable and widely available. Some people call Olive Oil the liquid gold, find out why below.

So What Are The Amazing Things You Can Do With Olive Oil?

1. You can use it as a hot oil treatment for hair, I usually slather olive oil on my hair and get under a heating cap for 30 minutes to an hour and then wash it out.. If you don't have a heated cap or hooded dryer you can leave it on over night and then rinse it out the next mourning.

2. You can mix it in with shampoo, If I find my shampoo is not moisturizing enough I usually add a few drops of olive oil.

3. You can use it as a deep conditioner for hair. I normally add olive oil to my deep conditioners for the same reason I add to some of my shampoos. I sometimes mix olive oil and one egg and use that as a deep conditioner for about two hours and then rinse out.

4. You can use it as a make up remover. If I run out of make up remover wipes and have stubborn make up on that wont come of with regular facial wash, then I wipe my face with olive oil first which removes all the make up and then I clean my face with facial wash.

5. You can use it as a body moisturiser. When I look back at when I was younger around 8-15 years old all I used to moisturise my body with was Olive Oil,  Warning! Olive oil if overdone can make someone easily look like they dipped themselves inside of a frying pan, so don't be to generous when using olive oil.

6. You can use it as a leave in hair conditioner so you can have moisturised and shiny hair.

7. So you ran out of shaving gel, then use Olive oil it will provide great slip for the shaver/razor.

8. If you have dry skin, you can add a few drops of Olive Oil to your bath.

9. Following on from number 8, If you only take showers then you can add olive oil to your home-made exfoliator which I mentioned in my "How To Get Rid Of Dry Skin" post or you can add it to your store bought exfoliator.

10. You can massage with Olive Oil.

11. You can mix it with other ingredients to make a face mask, My homemade face-mask usually consists of olive oil mixed with egg and honey.

12. It can be used to help get rid of dandruff by loosening up the flakes stuck on the head and allowing a anti-dandruff product to do its work better and faster. You can use the hot oil treatment mentioned in number one.

13. You probably already know this but just in case you didn't, you can eat it. Olive oil is commonly eaten with salad. Funny enough out of all these amazing things this is the one I have yet to try.

14. It can be used as a light laxative

15. You can use it to soften ear wax

As you can see I am an Olive Oil Lover, I was pretty much brought up on doing most of these amazing things thanks to mum, I also learnt some of these amazing things I got from a small pink beauty book I had from when I was 8.

Have you tried any of these things or know more things that can be done with Olive Oil? Then let me know by commenting below.

Nicki Minaj OPI Nail Polish Line Review, Perfect For Spring/Summer

My new obsessions, these fantastic neon bright nail polishes are created by OPI and inspired by hip hop's new queen Nicki Minaj. These in your face colors are a play on Nicki's out of this world style and is not for the faint heart-ed.

These gorgeous nail polish colors compliment a variety of skin tones from the palest to darkest of tones not only that but they are perfect for this spring and in trend.

Please Ignore my not so perfect application of these lovely jubbly nail polishes.

Let me describe these beautiful colors to you.

First up we have Pink Friday which is the same name as Nicki Minaj's first album, I would describe Pink Friday as a Baby Barbie pink. I have never seen a barbie pink nail polish before, have you?

Then we have Metallic For Life which has dazzling black glitter, silver glitter and blue glitter in various sizes. This is one of my favorites and just to prove it I have two pictures, actually I just wanted to show you it in two different lights. I have to admit I have never been a fan of glitter nail polishes until now, I think because the glitters are in various sizes it gives a really cool effect and its not tacky or childish at all. You can click on pictures to get a closer look.

Next Up is Did It On Them which is a striking neon/lime color.

Last but not least we have Fly which is a bold aqua/teal color.

These Little beauties on average need two coats and they last for about a week.
I bought these nail polishes in a set of 4 but you can buy these nail polishes separately.
